(no subject)

So, this is what I did last night:

Me, [journalfen.net profile] kyabetsu [JournalFen], and some other friends got in to the gala opening of the Star Wars exhibit at Geppi's Entertainment Museum, and of course we went in character. :D It was weird to wear that and *still* get called 'normal people'. (By Rebel Legion Organizers, who granted have a somewhat skewed idea of "normal", but, y'know, just because people aren't obsessive Star Wars cosplayers doesn't mean they're not obsessive cosplayers.

Not that I'm really a cosplayer. I am less likely, on my own, to waste the effort on making a weird outfit to wear only to special events when I can put the effort into just dressing weird ALL THE TIME.)

Unfortunately the Anakin costume is all storebought - I was smartchicken enough not to want to wander around in Maryland June weather in tons of makeup and a heavy headdress, unlike some people ([journalfen.net profile] kyabetsu [JournalFen] in that picture) so I just used one of the costumes they had in storage instead of the one I made. (More pictures here.)

Crossplay is fun. Even if I totally suck at it, even when playing one of the femmier guys in my canon. :D Remembering to walk like you have the family jewels between your legs is not too hard, but otherwise my body language is about as butch as John Sheppard's. And my voice is squeaky. :-P

Yay someone else who does scifi-related cosplay! I've been working on a costume for the main character from my favorite book series, The Dresden Files and I was just complaining on my LJ about not being able to find any place to discuss scifi cosplay and not just anime and manga. As for being butch- heh, I'm a woman who always cosplays as a guy. xD You have to be more butch than me.

Love the light saber. ^_^

Wait... I'm a moron. You are a woman too. *headdesk* I am so sorry. I don't care what you say, in that picture you sell the man.

Thanks! I can more-or-less pull it off as long as I don't talk, move, or stand next to anyone taller than me. :) The best tip I used was to fasten the belt around the wide part of my hips, so my waist didn't show. Lucky, since the belt was too big for my waist anyway.

Left on my own I'm more likely to mess with garb, actually, but my friend (emenyanime on lj) is really into cosplay - he started in anime but these days has moved on and will do pretty much anything shiny, and he's learned that I'm a sucker for dressing up.

We're apparently doing PotC this Halloween! It should be fun.

I have always loved playing dress-up. Cosplay is just an excuse for older 'kids' to play dress-up and not get locked up. >_> Or maybe they do.

PotC? Fun!

Oh and would you mind terribly if I friended you on LJ?

Not at all! I never mind new frieds. But note that about all I've been posting there lately is political rage.
