Once I realized it was fanfic of an anime set in Japan's idea of Medieval Europe I was just like, "Oh, Japan," and let it go. :P

(I think I used to have more of an issue with that kind of thing, but eventually I forced myself to be okay with it because after awhile it's literally impossible for any name to have no associations at all. And also I get more annoyed at the completely made-up fantasy names that have no logic or associations behind them at all. Or that try to do a naming conlang but then fail really bad at making it work as a living language. And she was trying to build a world that clearly had pretty strong mythical resonances with ours.

I feel you, though, I am still mad about the Melusine thing, I spent a long time waiting for the actual Melusine story to turn up.)
