Oh, yeah, these are great. If you liked The Sunbird, you should definitely read the sequels, in which Telemakos has more spy adventures and gets thumped a lot more. They're one novel broken in two for inexplicable publisher reasons (it would not be super-long as one book), The Lion Hunter and The Empty Kingdom.

A Coalition of Lions is set in Aksum before The Sunbird and has less whumpage (for Wein; it does involve traumatic muteness) and is mostly incredibly complex political machinating interspersed with family drama.
