Oh, it's definitely not the only point at which there's a total disconnect. (see also: the disconnect between people who 'don't believe in environmentalism' and the people who believe in their bones that their grandchildren will inherit an uninhabitable Earth.) This was just one that blindsided me recently because I'd seen the disconnect but it had never made sense to me because it seemed like we were talking from the same place? But suddenly realizing it was the missiles they were scared of, not the nukes, suddenly made it fall into place for me.
