I mean, to be fair, it's not even just that they were Men Of Their Time, it's that they were Real Actual Human Beings, and unfortunately, as you know, people, so any human being put on that kind of pedestal is going to fail in one way or another. (This is why I try to avoid getting invested in RPF fandoms anymore....) Especially if they're the sort of people who voluntarily go into politics.
