Also remember that sometimes people will be looking for a particular element and not care what fandom it's in. Think about those people. Then tag for all those things. If it's in your fic but somebody looking for it specifically will probably not want to read your whole fic, don't tag for it.
Yes, this! Because I quite often go tag-strolling. I read a fic with arranged marriage, and then I want to read more so I click on the tag and see where it leads me. Or I get a craving for wing!fic. Or regencyAUs. Or genderswap. Or Women Being Awesome ... and then I get extremely frustrated that apparently for about 2/3 of authors on AO3, "Women Being Awesome" means a girl having one scene where she talks sense so that Major Slash Pairing will realize their Twu Wuv.
