It is pretty damn slick. ;> At the time, we bought it in lieu of buying a second car. We then inherited a second car from C's mom, and now we have two cars which, this school year, are mostly sitting in the driveway. Oh well. Kids and I are much happier walking and biking around.

If it's a fixed-speed tandem and it's dropping a chain, that's...not good. Is it dropping the rear chain (back pedals to rear wheel drive cog) or the timing chain (connects the two sets of pedals)?
