(It's not so much the OTTness that turns me off about the particular set-up, it's the way they often tend to, hmmm. Go to creepy dubious-consent places without realizing it, and fail to make the creepy as creepy as it needs to be? But it sounds like these ones went right for the creepy and bad where it belongs.)
