Glomming on to just one thing out of that whole huge downpour of sparkles and wonder --

Name a manga or anime that was widely circulated in the US in translation in the 20th century, and I have probably seen at least some of it (unless it involves giant mecha. I still don't see the point of giant mecha,) though lately I've found that, as in many other things, if left to my own devices my tastes in Japanese media lean toward the old, the obscure, the off-kilter, and the just plain awful.

. . . slowly dawning ever-so-slightly hopeful look . . .

Once upon a time, there was an anime movie. In English, I believe it was called Egg of an Angel or Angel's Egg. It has maybe half a dozen lines of dialogue -- I've only ever seen it in Japanese, no sub-titles. It has two characters I remember clearly: one an adult, with at least one injured hand, whom I believe we first see walking with a long gun over his shoulder casting a cruciform shadow; one a juvenile girl (I'm pretty sure) who is caring for an egg, and who collects -- if I'm remembering correctly -- bottles of water of all different types. There is also a vast carven stone sphere that sinks and/or rises into/out of the ocean, and which may be a petrified city of some sort. At some point, we see what I think is a mural of some kind of story -- a world tree, animals, a boat, maybe something related to the flood story found in so many cultures?

As you may be able to tell, it's been, ummmm..... counts on fingers almost 25 years? I think? since I saw it, and it's faded a bit in memory.

If you know it --

What is its real (Japanese) name?
What studio/artist is it by?
How can I get a copy?
How can I get a good translation of the few words there are?
What the heck is the story being told in the mural?

help??????????
