I don't have anything particularly intelligent to say, but I just wanted to say that I love you for writing this and providing all the links. I'm about to begin the process of convincing an author and his manager that allowing fanfic is a good thing (really I have no choice about feeling them out first before promoting fanfic, since these two watch their teeny tiny fandom under a microscope), and this should help a lot!
