Playing hookie, making something out of nothing
A concession! Mother has agreed that I can go on long hiking trips by myself -- as long as I agree to cross-dress the whole time!
Just think, it's only the twenty-first century, and I, as a liberated* modern woman, have all the rights and privileges of -- one of Shakespeare's heroines? Hooray for America!
Anyway, this came up because I am spending the next week or so at my sister's apartment, cat-sitting while she gallivants all over Arizona, and it *right next* to the C&O canal trail, and I *am* going to do a long hike while I'm there. I *am*.
Actually I have a *lot* of plans. I will probably not manage to do all of them.
Tomorrow: Substitute teach. Run to the train after, hopefully catch both of the connectinos I need. Get picked up by sister. Make her take me grocery shopping. Watch SciFiFri at her apartment. Go to bed.
Saturday: Get up godawful early to go to the airport. Then leave the car at White's Ferry and take the ferry across to the trail. Hike till dark. Decide at that point whether I take the ferry back that night, or find a place to kip out along the trail.
Sunday: Go back to apartment. Make sure cat is alive. Sleep. Mess around with sister's computer and DVD collection. Do homework (?). Figure out if anything is going on in Leesburg. Possibly find the library and see if they have the next S&A book.
Monday: Go to school. Feed cat. Sleep.
Tuesday: Go to school. Feed cat. Watch House. Sleep.
Wednesday: Go to school. Feed cat. Watch Bones and Boston Legal. Possibly drop in at the Spirit Circle at the magic shop, just so I can see what it's like, and say I did, because largest magic shop in the area! (Even if their selection is kind of laughable. Especially the books.) Sleep.
Thursday: Go to school. Since Thurs. is my short day, and I'll be taking the Metro through the city anyway, I'm tempted to stop off and wander for a bit. Or possibly spend the afternoon in the Amazonia reading room, pretending I'm doing important research for my degree, because I've always wanted to do that. (and if I feel like going for broke, literally, there's an intermediate tarot class at the magic shop that night.) Feed cat.
Friday: Sleep in. Play on computer until I have to go to the airport to pick up sister. Make her buy me dinner. Watch SciFiFri. Be ignored by cat, as am no longer the one feeding her.
Saturday: Go with sister to meet people at the National Book Festival. Go home from National Book festival with Mom. Unpack. Sleep.
Sunday: Church. Possibly talk somebody into going to Baltimore Book festival with me, depending on status of homework.
There. That's plenty of adventure for *me* for one week, anyway. And I probably won't get around to doing half of it, but it'd be cool if I did. And all either free or on Sister's dime! (Except a dollar for ferry fare. And the Tarot class, which would blow my budget for a while, if I actually went.)
*Okay, possibly I would be more liberated if I wasn't still living off Mom. :-P
