Okay, so with that last post I kind of gave away that no, I haven't graduated yet, and yes, I am still trying. I'm commuting this semester, by public transit. Local public transit is really in need of a good logistician. Here's a run-down of my commute home:
1. Walk from class to bus station.
2. Take university shuttle bus to Metro station.
3. Take Metro bus to other Metro station.
4. Take Marc train to Marc station.
5. Take shuttle bus to parking lot.
6. Drive home.
It takes about an hour if I make all the connections just right, and two hours or more if I don't - the Metro busses and Marc trains only come every forty-five minutes or less, and I have to walk to the satellite lot if I hit a time when the shuttles aren't running. And yet, even with that, it's less annoying and cheaper than driving the whole way and parking there. Plus, of course, much less evil, but that's a given.

In other news, the recent LibraryThing downtime has left me with a free gift account. First person to post a comment who'll make use of it can have it! (If nobody asks, I'll just upgrade the Star Wars account, and start cataloging comic books.)

Good Lord, that's quite a trip. Is the trip up quite as... involved?

It's basically the same, except that on the way in I usually take the Metro bus all the way into campus - they make stops on campus, but the drivers have a bad habit of not stopping to pick people up and then when you run after them waving, claiming that they aren't supposed to stop there anyway, despite it clearly saying so on the sign. Ahem. Anyway. So I usually cut the crap and take the shuttle to the Metro station on the way out; less likely to be left standing.

I would say "yay LibraryThing!" except that half the books you're cataloging are technically mine, and half the books I have here will end up there eventually anyway -- and I would probably just donate it to the cause of cataloging Star Wars comics. d-:

This makes me chuckle for undefined reasons! XD

You want it anyway? I've been pretty carefully tagging the ones that I consider shared (and have been considering going through and adding a 'mine!' tag to the ones you'll have to fight me to the death for). You could probably even easily import the whole collection over into your account, if you wanted. But I thought you were annoyed at LT anyway. q-: Would

LT isn't really set up to do comics very well, although you can fudge it. And I'd just as rather keep pretending that we don't actually have an *infinite* amount of SW junk.

But we *do* have an infinite amount of Star Wars junk! We do, we do! You shall have to come visit my electronic talking Vader bank, which, in case you missed my last entry, is AWESOME.

Actually, I think an account would probably alternately frustrate me, and cause me to devote way too much of my life to satisfying my anal-retentive tendencies. I have very few problems in keeping my books organized on their shelves, and I have more fun with my amazon wish list anyway, which is librarything in reverse, with added DVDs! :D :D :D

But you can import the Amazon wishlist directly to the librarything list! It's like *magic*.

Mom wants to know if you want more wood the next time you're around here.

I love magic!

[identity profile] stellar-dust.livejournal.com 2006-02-08 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
But then it would be a librarything list full of the books I *don't* have, which would be silly!

I suppose so - if I'm gonna be moving, I'd better use up my allotment of fireplace rations while I still have one. :/

In similar vein, I got this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0471768472/sr=1-2/qid=1139372250/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-9302440-0295925?%5Fencoding=UTF8) today, so I guess I can take it off my wishlist now. d-: I'll bring it this weekend. Wheee.

House was good tonight. Boston Legal was better though, omg.

Darcy wants you to meow at Mom, k?
