I am updating at o-dark-hundred from a Comfort Inn in Bloomington, Illinois, 750 miles on the way to Grand Forks. I suppose I should have updated before we left to say that we were leaving, but I thought to myself, Self, if there's one thing you've learned in the last few summers of road trips, it's that cheap off-road motels always have free wi-fi. And indeed they do. Unfortunately, this one has really *crappy* free wi-fi-- it keeps losing its network address after thirty seconds and taking forever to acquire a new one (although it's being slightly better about it now than it was last night.) Anyway, hopefully by tomorrow we'll be at
stellar_dust's undergroud lair, and I can use *her* wireless.
Nothing exciting happened yesterday. I spent the morning reading Wee Free men and listening to Brother Cadfael on audiocassette, and the afternoon driving and listening to country music on the radio, and the evening sleeping and not listening to Brother Cadfael. The car did not, for once, break down (yet.) More of that today! How fun!
I always get mesmerized by sky when we come out here.

Yeah... The hypno-gas has gotten pretty bad in the midwest. There's legislation in the House right now to reduce the amount... but for now, you'll have to live with being mesmerized. XD
