Things that are making me happy right now:

Going from being convinced, last week, that I was going to fail three out of four classes, to being confident, as of this afternoon, that I've pulled B's or higher in them, mostly due to being literally too smart for my own good;

my academic advisor informing me that the Arnold Rimmer salute is now our secret handshake;

going home for Christmas break and getting to see my sister (although twelve straight hours of LotR movies might be pushing it);

this christmas song;

every time Diane Duane shows up on fandom_wank;

Actually knowing what I want to get people for Christmas (for both of the two people on my Christmas list q:);

figuring out how to do real computer painting with GIMP;

earthsea_fic.

And .. Diane Duane .. is actually .. on journalfen?? An actual published author that I actualy have read some of actually has something lj-ish that is *not* a feed? That rules. Are there others? *g*

You might be surprised. There's a more than a few minorly sucessful authors actually semi-active in lj fandom, although none I particularly fangirl, and most of them broke out pretty recently. But once in a while I'll jump into a discussion and later discover that some of the other people in it were actual *authors*. That I've *heard of*.

But yeah, Diane Duane's the coolest. Because she just *is*. And every so often she pops onto fandom_wank acting as if she's still just another fan, and immediately gets mobbed by people who worship at her feet. As I do. :)
