Last week of classes! I survived! Yay!

Did you know that the little mouth-legs all chelicerates have are called chelicerae? Do you want to know how long it took me to remember that during the exam?

Now just finals next week and it's over. For now, anyway. There may be a massive post of ACADEMIC ANGST coming up in the next few days-- take warning.

Also I burnt my tongue on cocoa. *really* burnt. I can't taste anything on that part of it.

And speaking of-- I have $100 left on my meal plan and $100 left on my incon account. Guess what everyone's getting for Christmas! Again!

Back to trying to figure out how to burn CDs on this computer.

Does Pop-pop have a particular fondness for claymation?

Remember, he had a tape of it that he used to really like? But I was a typical annoying self-centered teenager and accidentally-sortof taped half of Newsies over it? d-:

Nope! Don't remember that at all! So, I have no idea q:

Meh. Oh well then. Probably no one else remembers it either.

and accidentally-sortof taped half of Newsies over it?

But, wasn't that worth it???!

Try "xcdroast"...

It does not appear to be installed on my computer. . . or did you mean I should download it?

I've been playing with cdrecord. It did *something* for awhile, but now the cd won't mount, unmount, or eject, so I can't figure out *what* it did.

Right now I'm trying to find the default of Autorun.kdelink, because I futzed my computer earlier trying to do this and stupidly emptied that file without saving the original first.

Ah, the fun of linux! yay!

Actually, looking at xcdroast, it looks like it's just another GUI for cdrecord and mkisofs, so I'd need to get them working right anyway.

[identity profile] aelkiss.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I assumed it was already installed.. eh. Just about everything uses cdrecord (just puts a friendly GUI on top) so if cdrecord doesn't work other stuff probably won't really either. You could give downloading xcdroast a try, though.

Well, *I* certainly thought so at the time. (; As I recall he didn't quite share my enthusiasm though.

Wait, it just randomly ejected. And now it's mounting and working. How very odd.

Now to see if I can get a GUI working, I guess, although the command-line way is easy enough.

[identity profile] aelkiss.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
My guess is that it had some problem trying to fixate the CD and eventually gave up and timed out. But so long as it actually wrote the data, you'll probably be able to read it at least on the drive that made it, though it might not work in any other computer. At least, that's been my experience with cdrecord and Linux.

Also I burnt my tongue on cocoa. *really* burnt. I can't taste anything on that part of it.

Try having popsicles. Or ice cream. Not so much just for the coldness, but
also because its something tasty. That way, when feeling/taste *does* return, you're having something good. Other cold/tasty things work to, to taste. (grapes being preferrable, if they're available)
