April 27th, 2005 03:06 am - One Day In Fic: Vol. 1, No. 2
Time for the second issue of Twenty-Four Hours in Fanfic, in which I leave all my browser tabs open for twenty-fours hours, and come back and post digressive reviews of all the fic I've read, good bad and indifferent, in an attempt to expiate (or at least explicate) the fact that I never leave feedback.

This is 6:30 PM Monday to 6:30 PM Tuesday. There really isn't that much this time; it almost all came from communities on my [livejournal.com profile] necreavit flist, because-- *gasp* -- I did other stuff in that period too. Like doing classwork and watching Stargate Monday and listening to three eps of This American Life while sorting notes and cleaning room. At least half of them, in fact, came from [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic, so I'm doing those grouped together. (Oh, I haven't mentioned here that I've been writing fic for that community, have I? I've posted Unified Field Theory, which other people seemed to like, and Built of Autumn Roses, which I liked.)

So, on with it then.
Darkness Challenge: [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic : Six Stories )

The Famine/Pollution Epic: [livejournal.com profile] air_and_angels : Good Omens, Famine/Pollution, War/Pestilence, adult )

The Fairest of Them All: [livejournal.com profile] violet_quill : Harry Potter, Narcissa/Tonks, NC-17 )

A Spirit of Brotherhood: [livejournal.com profile] flambeau : Harry Potter, Sirius&Remus&Snape, gen )

By A Thread: [livejournal.com profile] arysteia : Classics, Achilles/Patroclus, R for violence but not sex )

Untitled Bit of Fluff: [livejournal.com profile] paian : SG1, Jack/Daniel, R for language but not sex )

Potential: [livejournal.com profile] katiem : SG1, Daniel, Gen )

Taste: [livejournal.com profile] zorb : SG1, Sam/Daniel, NC-17 )

Five Ways They Lived Happily Ever After, in Atlantis: [livejournal.com profile] radiotelescope : Stargate Atlantis, Various, Gen )

I also wrote the first two thousand words of the Jack/Thor story that will not die, and am working through the long Stargate/Asgard saga Æsirhættir, by The Prophet, which I found by googling "Angrboda Nirrti" while researching the Asgard. Also, apparently all this time I've been thinking that the original epic noncon crosspecies mpreg love affair was Thor/Loki, when it was actually Gwydion/Gilfaethwy. Ah well, I'm still trying to get my mind around the idea that the Asgard apparently did all kinds of fornicating with the Goa'uld back in the day...

February 6th, 2005 02:07 am - One Day In Fic
So, I was going to post about all the fun stuff I've done this weekend, but ... maybe tomorrow. First I wanted to close all the open Opera tabs. They were open because yesterday I decided to leave open all the fic I read in twenty-four hours, just so I could see how much there was. And ... yeah, there was a lot. And in my ongoing effort to be less lurky, I'm going to link them all here with brief review thingys.

But keep in mind that of that twenty-four hours, I spent ten hours sleeping and ten doing actual social life stuff, and read some x-files comics, and got caught up on my reading for Archeology, and played with some fanart, so it's not really *that* much fic.

Abominable: [livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle : AtS/BSC, Fred/Janine, PG-13 )

In the mood to lose my way: [livejournal.com profile] thete1 : DC Animated, Richie Foley, Slash, PG-13 )

[livejournal.com profile] daegaer's Drabbles of Wrongness: Weiss Kreuz, PG-13, basically gen )

Connections : [livejournal.com profile] siviusx : DC comics, Tim/Cissie, NC-17 )

Because of Who You Are : [livejournal.com profile] amanuensis1 : Harry Potter, Harry/Hermione, NC-17 )

Without a Cape : [livejournal.com profile] amanuensis1 : Incredibles/24, Mirage/Jack Bauer, NC-17 )

A Small Cat : [livejournal.com profile] sister_wolf : DC comics, Teen Titans, gen )

Inheritance : [livejournal.com profile] petronelle : DC Comics, Batman/Robin, NC-17 )

All the Skin You're Missing : [livejournal.com profile] 3jane : DC Comics, Dick/Tim, NC-17 )

Shooting Stars Down : [livejournal.com profile] minervasolo : G )

More Than Memory : [livejournal.com profile] harriet_spy : AtS, gen )

Five Deaths : [livejournal.com profile] guede_mazaka : PotC, PG-13, Will )

Toronto and sequels : Tangerine : X-Men comics, Angel/Northstar, NC-17 )

The Way I Wield You : [livejournal.com profile] __marcelo : DC comics, Barbara/Tim, NC-17 (but really closer to pale R) )

Moldy Warts : [livejournal.com profile] obsessed1 : BtvS/HP, Dawn, Giles )

The Arrangement : [livejournal.com profile] tea_and_snark : Hornblower / Po'B / Good Omens )

And that's it for the ones I finished. Two longer ones-- La Cancion de Las Pistoleras, OUaTiM, Sands/El, and Psychedelic Butterfly, BtVS, Spike/Dru-- are still sitting open on my browser. The Sands one is okay, but not quite as sharp and bleeding as I really like my Sands, but it's got very good pointy bits, too. The Buffy one is starting slow, but I think I'll stick it out for the promise of Ripper and Ethan meeting Spike/Dru.

So, what have we learned? I read a lot of fic. In a lot of fandoms (but mostly Batman). With a lot of sex. But it's not my fault that people write mostly sex in the places I go looking! Also, this took me *way* too long to write up, longer than I want to admit, longer than it took me to read all the fics put together, so I now have *quantitative* data to support why I almost never get around to giving feedback...
