Some random headcanons from the Doctor Who anniversay special (yes, I am still thinking about this, give me a Master and/or Romana back and I may fall back into this fandom all the way again, oops.)

1. The reason all fourteen doctors had already been calculating how to freeze Gallifrey in time and send it out of the universe was that he'd been working on plans for it since the Academy. Not because of timey-wimey nonsense, just because he spent his adolescence wishing really hard that he could make his entire home planet just disappear. After he was a bit older he never really believed he'd ever get to do it, but he'd still work on the problem sometimes. You know. As stress relief. As you do.

2. The Master knew that Gallifrey wasn't actually destroyed. He didn't find this all that comforting. He didn't realize the Doctor remembered it differently until LotTL; and then he started to think that the Doctor was the one who remembered it accurately.

3. The Master, who has been able to go wherever he pleases on Gallifrey since before the Fourth Doctor's day, spent a lot of time during the War talking to the Moment. He was always certain enough that he would use it this time to activate its OS's failsafe. It always managed to talk him out of using it. It always looked like the Doctor, for him. He went back more and more often the longer the war lasted.

4. The Doctor completely ignored it until the day he stole it, because he was terrified that even it wouldn't be able to talk him out of burning everything. (The Master isn't sure whether he's more bitter about the Doctor's certainty, or about the fact that in stealing away the Moment, the Doctor took his Doctor away from him... or about the fact that in deciding to use the Moment, the Doctor decided to destroy the Doctor he knew.)

5. [in the universe where the Curator isn't Tom Baker, fallen through the worlds] The Curator is the Moment. It ended up in the Black Archive around the same time the painting did, and it alternates between Doctors depending on which one would most effectively guilt UNIT out of doing something irrevocable at any given moment. Most of the people cleared for the Black Archive have forgotten that it isn't actually the Doctor himself, or at least prefer not to remember, but occasionally they have been forced to expose a Prime Minister to it to prevent very bad decisions. Their attempt to use its powers of persuasion against Prime Minister Saxon ended... poorly.

The episode still made no sense, mind you, but at least it was closer to being in range of making sense with the help of a few headcanons than most Moffat 'plots'.

...oh good, there are already people vidding it to Johnny Cash's 'Hurt', I don't have to attempt to do it myself.

(How is there no Peter&Colin&Sylvester BroTP on the Archive yet? How is this possible? (And why is the only Pertwee & Delgado fic in a language I don't read?) Fandom, you are causing me pain.)

Nah, that one was all me; I haven't a clue about fandom settling on much of anything. It's just, well, the Moment is the Moment, and whoever zhe chooses to be, but I have issues with using 'it' for a sapient being unless the being hirself tells me 'it' is hir preferred pronoun. So I used zhe.

But oh yeah, the Moment is sooo cool. *snuggles Moment, if such is allowed*
