In preparation for family gatherings

Draw a long loopy curve.

Add three crooked lines.

Draw two parallel lines on either side of the original curve, and rays inside the largest crooked line.

Add claws and muscles to the crooked lines, a triangle at the lower end of the curvy one, connect the ends of the rays, and draw a simple snake's head on the top end of the curvy one.

Draw stripes between the original curve and the lower parallel curve, tiny triangles on top of the higher parallel curve, and draw flames coming out of the mouth. (Then, if you have a chance, erase any lines that shouldn't be showing.)
Congratulations! You are now officially AWESOME and have drawn the BEST DRAGON EVER, and you may have to do it again to stop them from fighting over who gets to keep it.

(Actually, one of our Super Cool finds for Herself at the Powell's this month was a how-to book about drawing dragons. In Spanish. Hee.)

So I had to resurrect my old "quick dragon doodle" method from sixth grade to teach him, but soon found myself mobbed by all of them.
