Now y'all have presented me with too many options and I can't decide what to do tomorrow. :P I guess I will keep thinking about it and see if anyone gets back to me.

Anyway, I hear it is More Joy Day, so I went and posted Rivers of Ankh-Morpork. (since we all know I will never get around to getting it beta-read.) Have some joy?

Rivers of Ankh-Morpork (6335 words) by melannen
Fandom: Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch, Discworld - Terry Pratchett
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Peter Grant, Angua von Uberwald, Samuel Vimes, Foul Ole Ron, Gaspode (Discworld), Sybil Ramkin, Thomas Nightingale
Additional Tags: Crossover, community policing, hydrological engineering, Ankh-Morpork City Watch
Summary:

The Faceless Man miscalculates, and Peter Grant falls into a river.

...well, more onto a river, really. He may have bounced.

July 7th, 2016 07:51 pm - Bless Your Heart, Kent Parson
I maded a thing! It is 8,000 words of gay fictional hockey boys in Georgia, because sometimes you just gotta write what you gotta write.

Bless Your Heart, Kent Parson (8076 words) by melannen

Fandom: Check Please! (Webcomic)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Eric Bittle/Jack Zimmermann, Past Kent Parson/Jack Zimmermann - Relationship
Characters: Eric "Dicky" Bittle, Jack Zimmermann, Coach Bittle, Suzanne Bittle, Kent "Parse" Parson
Additional Tags: Fourth of July, Meet the Family, Closeted Character, Coming Out, Period-Typical Homophobia, Period-Typical Transphobia, the period is USA 2015
Summary: Kenny's name had been coming up a lot. Partly because these days, it was hard to talk about the NHL without talking about Kent Parson. Partly because before Samwell, Jack's experience of an American Independence Day had always included a birthday party for Kenny. Partly because - well, because being in Madison with Bitty was. Well. Strange and uncomfortable, in a lot of ways, this week of all weeks, that maybe had Jack worrying at those old frayed ends more than usual.

...I am already getting in a discussion in comments about whether I violated canon. It's so weird to write in a fandom where people still give a crap about canonicity, I am not used to it anymore.

In other news, I have made a huge Mistake. So my sister's cats are here, right? So the older one - she's fifteen and has been having health issues - spent the first couple nights here sitting in the living room, yowling horribly until somebody went out to tell her it was okay. In my sister's one-bedroom apartment, she had line-of-sight on the bedroom from her preferred sleeping spot, so we thought maybe she was waking up and getting upset because there was nobody around.

So I thought to myself, hey, she really likes getting brushed, so I'll take her onto my bed at bedtime and brush her, and maybe she'll learn it's a safe friendly place and not get all lonely out in the living room. BAD IDEA.

Days until she had realized bedtime = brushings and she was waiting for me: 3
Days until she decided I was staying up too late and tried to get me there sooner: 5
Days until I couldn't go into my room at all anymore without a cat hopping up ready for brushings: 7

I can't go in my own bedroom anymore without someone trying to tell me it's bedtime and I should brush her. I am CAPTIVE in my OWN HOME.

At least she doesn't sit alone in the living room and yowl anymore. Now she comes in my room and yowls into my face until I wake up enough to pet her.

I am having a very quiet new year's break, which is working really well for me, and I do have some end-of year and yuletide wrap-up stuff to post, but in the spirit of "start as you mean to go on", have:

Five Imperial Radch Stories That Fandom Has Not Miraculously Already Provided Me, Why? (and one I may end up writing myself)

1. The modern day US coffeeshop AU where everyone is genderqueer, endgame pairing Breq/Anaander )

2. Several Thousand Years' Worth of Sphene Being Very, Very Bored )

3. Several thousand fics about identity and ancillaries, especially how that works for Breq and Tisarwat going forward from where they are. )

4. A couple segments of the part of Anaander who made Tisarwat come to Athoek Station on a diplomatic mission, and fall hard for Basnaaid, because it turns out it wasn't it wasn't Tisarwat being a teenager, it was the Lord of the Radch having a type )

5. Mercy of Kalr decides to try growing ancillaries from scratch, fic quickly degenerates into world's most horrifying + adorable kidfic )

6. Breq and Kalr *consider* having kids, decide to get a dog instead )

December 30th, 2015 05:10 pm - Something awakens
I went to see the new Star Wars movie today! I had not tried particularly hard to avoid spoilers, but the entire internet had tried so hard to protect me despite myself (thanks internet!) that it just seemed ungrateful to put it off until it was too late.

So, everything even vaguely spoilery under cut )

My sister is taking all of the old-EU novels back to Chicago with her after break, which is great, because that means I won't be tempted to fall back into the Sarlacc pit after her.

So anyway, in an attempt to get all settled before NaNo/YT season, I've been trying to get all my fanfic wips in one place (no, all of them, back to the last century) and man, there's a lot of good stories in there that are never going anywhere. :/ It makes me sad that nobody will ever see them, but not sad enough to do all the canon review + writing work that would be required to finish them.

Here, reading list, have 7500 words of Harry Dresden and John Marcone written c. 5 years ago, before Ghost Story came out. Featuring huddling for warmth. In a Canadian shack. In a blizzard. With bonus soulbonds and spirit animals and marriage-of-convenience and fuck-or-die. And, apparently, mpreg and pot. I wonder how many other random tropes I was planning to throw in here before I remembered that I can't write feels.

Tiger, tiger, burning bright )

Via [personal profile] tassosss, Pull seven lines from the seventh page of your WIP says the meme.

I like that these memes always think I have "A Wip". Here are seven-ish lines from the seven-ish page of all of my current-ish wips that had at least seven screens in Scrivener (which seems to equal about seven pages in Write.)

the GotG one that I worked on for the first time in MONTHS yesterday )

****

The Les Amis pirate AU, as mostly already published on Tumblr )

***

The original fic genderqueer sword & sorcery thing )

****

the E/R Modern US College Activists AU in the process of writing which I have gained a whole new respect for Victor Hugo )

***

The one ft. Actual Booby Marius Pontmercy )

***

the one that's mostly an excuse for the Winter Soldier + bb!Natasha to be adorable together )

***

the one where Marius can heal your wounds with words of love, that was supposed to be Barricade Day everyone-lives crackfic but then somehow got deep and angsty instead and won't be finished for barricade day anyway )

So yesterday I got up and was like "I am going to be so productive today! I am going to do ALL THE THINGS and get my todo list under control!"

"Actually," said my brain, "You are going to write 1500 words about Les Amis playing paintball."

"That's what I said," I repeated. "1500 words about Les Amis playing paintball."

A vaincre sans péril (1533 words)
Fandom: Les Misérables - Victor Hugo
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Enjolras (Les Misérables), Grantaire (Les Misérables), Courfeyrac (Les Misérables), Feuilly (Les Misérables), Bossuet Laigle, Les Amis de l'ABC
Additional Tags: Paintball, Canon Era, War Games, Fluff with foreshadowings of canonical character death, references to alcohol
Summary: So Courfeyrac talked to Grantaire and Grantaire hooked him up with a man who loaned him about a dozen air guns modified to fire beeswax marking rounds, and some quilted canvas protective smocks, and then Courfeyrac cajoled all his friends into spending a week at one of his father's estates playing war games, which Courfeyrac still maintains was one of his better ideas.

...unexpected crackfic aside, though, I have been leveling up in HabitRPG a lot faster than the other new people in my party? I don't think it's that I'm that much better at buckling down and doing stuff, though. I think it's partly the aforementioned tendency to automatically optimize games, and partly that I came to it having already leveled up many times in "making to-lists". I am probably about level 88 in "making to-do lists" at this point.

Anyway I reached the level where I get to pick a character class. The trick with Habit RPG is that once you do your character sheet the only way to change it is to give them money, so I have to pick exactly right. Anybody have any advice? The choices are warrior, healer, mage, and rogue. I leveled up so fast (with help from well-chosen spells and quests from our leader jam) that I don't really have any idea what the advantages are.

I am basically 100% always a Ranger in "what d&d class are you" quizzes, if that helps. :P

Speaking of me losing saving rolls, I am super-tempted to do Remix Redux this year. I've wanted to do it FOREVER and this is the first year that I can recall that I actually qualify. On the other hand, I just failed out of intoabar. And I'd have to come up with a list of fandoms I can write. And the only other remix exchange I've done ended poorly. Somebody talk me out of this please. Or help me talk Les Mis people into signing up.

February 21st, 2015 09:32 am - Pairing sillies meme!
This meme seems to be going around again - I got it via [personal profile] avanti_90. I need something to bribe myself to get to-do list done with, anybody want to give me a pairing and some numbers?

It can be any pairing from any of the fandoms you know I know canon for, except I'm going to exclude RPF this time, because I'm so incredibly behind on canon for all my old RPF fandoms. (There are some fiction canons I'm also incredibly behind on, I'll let you know if you hit one of them.)

Comment with the name of a ship from a fandom I know and I will tell you a bit about how each of the following scenarios would go down for them:
1. Fake dating
2. Bodyswap
3. Sexpollen/fuck or die/aliens made them do it
4. Dark!fic
5. Their first kiss
6. Meeting the parents
7. Moving in together
8. A crossover of my choice
9. An AU of my choice
10. If you like, another trope/scenario of your choice

January 25th, 2015 09:40 pm - Big Hero Six
So last night I went to see Big Hero Six at the new cheap movie theater! I approve of the new movie theater. It's nice to be able to just go to a theater and see a movie without first having to walk through a quarter-mile of mall and endure an "entertainment experience" or whatever. Plus, 1/3 the price, and showtimes that work with what I want to see!

Also Big Hero Six was lots of fun. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen if you can. Very very pretty with some great design work and I love how much the whole thing was a love song to the tech we're just on the verge of having. Fun characters. Other than the one giant gaping plothole, nice story. why is all the fanfic incestshipping

Then I came home last night and this happened:

"They couldn't even manage ten years without destroying it?" Newton Geizsler exclaimed, surveying the still all-too-familiar devastation that had flattened several blocks of the center of San Fransokyo. ficlet, mildly spoilery )

via everybody: When you see this, share 3 random lines from 3 WIPs.

I assume this means "use a random number generator on your wips file", right?

1. The sloe wine was already ice-cold from the snow, rich and strong as Amelia poured it off the sloes, brownish-red like old blood. They'd bottled last year after the first frost, with Amelia's recipe that used cheap strong vodka and the absolute minimum of sugar, and Vivien could taste the bite of the alcohol and the bitterness of the sloes and the cyanide under it all.

2. "Hogan, do you think I like the idea of asking Hochstetter for a favor? Do you think I do not know what sort of man he is, to give one of my prisoners into his care? But I cannot simply lock you both in the cooler for a week, you must see that, she is a koningenwolf."

3. "Boopsie!" he said. "You're still here." Enjolras had no idea why Grantaire always called him 'Boopsie', but considering how much it made Jehan and Bahorel laugh every time, it was probably some sort of obsolete pop culture reference. He'd just started answering to it after awhile.

ANYWAY also I wrote a thing last night? It has psychic wolves in it! Sort of. Sort of wolves, anyway.

A Soldier Needs a Wolfsister (500 words) by melannen
Fandom: Doctor Who
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: The War Doctor (Doctor Who), The Doctor's TARDIS
Additional Tags: Dark, Time War, Bad Wolf, Alternate Universe, Psychic Wolves
Summary: A chameleon arch can do a lot of things, and a soldier needs a wolfsister.

...no that wasn't one of the options in the poll. Uh. It was an accident. Just be glad I didn't try writing the Les Mis one or the ACD one or, oh dear, the Frontier Wolf one, when I was in that sort of mood.

January 13th, 2015 06:42 pm - Yuletide fandoms
Oh right, Yuletide was a thing that happened, wasn't it.

Let's talk about this week's episodes of The Librarians, shall we? It continues to be gloriously predictable in a very enjoyable way. Also I'm finally starting to get properly fannish feels about the Librarianettes, so yay! I can't believe the season is almost over already? But that's probably good because let's face it this is about as long as I can manage to keep up with a currently-airing TV show these days. Maybe I'll actually pick up Agent Carter next?

shippy spoilers )

So for yuletide I wrote about the conspiracy of evil Librarians who are trying to keep magic from leaking back into the world. ^_^

Five Times Leavenworth Smedry Was Late Returning A Book (And One Time He Wasn't) (5257 words) by melannen
Chapters: 6/6
Fandom: Alcatraz Series - Brandon Sanderson
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Leavenworth Smedry, Shasta Smedry, Himalaya Smedry, Bastille Broadmoor, Alcatraz Smedry, Kanchenjunga Sarketjåkkå, Attica Smedry
Additional Tags: implied Alcatraz/Bastille, Future Fic, pov: librarian, Libraries, Yuletide 2014, implied Kanchenjunga/Leavenworth, Tentacles, librarian in-jokes, Dinosaurs, Books, Sexual Harassment, 5+1 Things, Lateness, Time Shenanigans
Summary:
Ranganathan's Five Laws of Non-Evil Library Science are:
Books are for use.
Every reader its book.
Every book its reader.
Save the time of the reader.
The library is a growing organism.

Dealing with Smedry talents, however, can make them difficult to remember, even for a Reformed Librarian.

This story has feathered dinosaurs, librarian in-jokes, grandparent shipping, a documentary framework, and a metatastic frist person POV, so basically everything you'd expect in a story by me. You may have seen it without the "(And One Time He Wasn't)" in the title because, of course, Leavenworth was late returning the sixth part, so it didn't get posted until right before reveals.

..so I signed up for that fandom at the last minute because [personal profile] the_rck mentioned that nobody had and her prompts looked fun, and I'd seen it cross the desk at the library and had been meaning to read it. It's just four kids' novels so I figured it would be an easy enough canon to pick up, I can read a longish kids' novel in two hours or so.

I should have remembered - it was right in the title of the books - that libraries are evil. We did have the whole series, but books two and four were only available as e-audiobooks. In a format incompatible with my audio player. So it ended up taking me way longer than it should have to get through canon and there was some mild panic there at a few points.

But I'm glad I offered it! I really enjoyed the series, I had a heck of a lot of fun writing the fic (mild deadline panic aside) and [personal profile] the_rck either didn't hate it or did a really good job hiding her dislike, so I thnk everything turned out ok.

The Alcatraz Smedry Series - for the vast majority of you who have never heard of it - is about a preteen boy named Alcatraz in foster care who suddenly encounters a strange old man who claims to be his grandfather. )

I kind of want these books to have a large fandom just so I can BS with people about what our Smedry talents are and strategize on how to use them. (Mine is that I can't get laces to stay tied. Since my shoelaces are never tied it has all the advantages of the tripping talent plus I can make other people trip. Also tripwires aren't much trouble and never try to tie me up. If I was in really serious trouble I might even be able to do terrible things to the Threads of Destiny but don't test me on that.)

December 15th, 2014 04:56 pm - Saving the World and So On
1.

Leave Us Time To Waste (5457 words) by melannen
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Pacific Rim (2013)
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Newton Geiszler/Hermann Gottlieb, Raleigh Becket & Mako Mori, Newton Geiszler/Kaiju
Characters: Newton Geiszler, Hermann Gottlieb, Tendo Choi, Raleigh Becket, Mako Mori
Additional Tags: Aliens make them not have sex, Post-Canon, Drift Side Effects, Platonic Relationships, Sleepy/Unconscious Sex, Dubious Consent
Summary:

One of the side-effects of Drifting is that Drift partners are no longer capable of being sexually attracted to each other. At all. Dr. Newton Geiszler is not happy about this.

Look, look, I finished a fic!

2. For the talky meme, [personal profile] alasse_irena asked for: Tell me something (or somethings, if you like) you would like to see more of in the fantasy genre.

Well, first, I have a confession to make: I don't read a lot of fantasy these days. (And don't watch much TV or movies, either.) There are a lot of fantasy novels I read back in the day that are still very dear to my heart, but in the last twelve months, I have read a total of six grown-up fantasy novels for grown-ups - if reading a five-book series about Edwardian vampires and one book about She-Hulk counts. (If you add in kids' novels and comics it's a little better but not much.) So it's possible they're already doing all the things I like and I just haven't noticed... but hey, when did not knowing what I'm talking about ever stop me?

My first version of this post was going to be "things fantasy novels could do to make me more likely to read them", but that really quickly turned into "reasons I enjoy fanfic more than published novels". Which was actually really interesting to write out, but not really the question I wanted to answer here, so I may post it later (I do still have slots open for the last week of meme....)

So instead I am going to talk about one thing that I would like to see less of in all the stories I consume, but especially in fantasy novels: the good guys only winning because they find the Cheat Codes of Destiny.

Or, explained at much greater length... )

Also I would like more diversity in characters and worldbuilding, obviously. And less heteronormativity and gender essentialism. And for it to be exactly like fanfic in every way. And more Capital Letters of Emphasis, obviously.

But mostly I would like a ban on using Cheat Codes of Destiny to take out the Assholes In Charge, and more of whatever we come up with instead.

Yesterday, I wrote 500 words of Valjean/Montparnasse porn.

I had big plans to spend my unexpected day off yesterday catching up on wordcount and maybe actually finishing a pornfic for once, but i forgot that a) porn is hard, b) getting anything at all done on a day off is impossible.

Today, I wrote 177 words of the one where Methos bros around with Ed'rashtekaresket, because I've been reading all the YW crossovers. Including mine. And remembered that would technically count as 'working on something I felt bad about posting just the first bit of' <_< ...on the plus side at least I have written *something* on a wip almost every day so far?

October 16th, 2014 05:33 pm - I finished another one!
Yay! With the one I finished earlier in the week than still needs some revisions, that means I got two more done in time to sign up for [community profile] intoabar. (Okay only because intoabar extended its signup deadline, but still. :P) So here is story #3:

Ricochet (2361 words) by melannen

Fandom: Captain America (Movies)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: James "Bucky" Barnes/Captain America's Shield
Characters: James "Bucky" Barnes, Steve Rogers, Maria Hill, Natasha Romanov
Additional Tags: frisbee, Captain America's shield - Freeform, Post-Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Summary:

The Famous National Mall Frisbee Game of 2014

Hurrah for finishing things!

(I'd say it's weird to post in a massively large fandom again and get so many kudos so fast, except...I'm pretty sure I can get used to that again prettyyy darn quick.)

October 2nd, 2014 10:20 am - Goals
Hi I am back! (Okay I was back Sunday, have just been easing back into life very... slowly.) I even got my YT noms in woo!

Meanwhile I have declared October to be Finish Yer Dern Wips month. (Not all of them, that would be nuts, just the ones that have wound up on the thumb drive I take to work.) So prepare yourself for a deluge of fic that starts well and then has an abrupt tacked-on ending. :P

Here's the first one:

The Nothing Hurts 'Verse (4591 words) by melannen
Chapters: 2/2
Fandom: Les Misérables (2012)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Javert/Jean Valjean
Additional Tags: Fluff, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, Dancing, Historical Reenactment, Clothing, Coming Out, Established Relationship, Self-Indulgent, Coffee, Donuts
Summary: In which there are ficlets set in an egregiously fluffy modern-day JVJ AU and there is a lot of awkward old men drinking coffee together, falling in love, slandering Marius Pontmercy and tripping over things.

There are eight more. If I finish two more of them by October 15, I get to sign up for [profile] intobar. If I finish four more of them by the end of the month, I get to do NaNo. If I finish all eight of them (or, at least, get to a postable stopping point) I get to do a NaNo that consists of the first 1700 words of 30 different stories that I will never finish, without guilting about it, as a trenchant postmodern commentary on the writing process. Yes. That seems like a reward I might be willing to fight for

Hopefully are all in the perfect state of mellow aging that the first one was, where I still remember what happens but I no longer have the passionate obsession with the story that makes me too scared to write anything down...

Here are the other eight, in order of how recently I haven't worked on them, if you want to egg me on for one of them. :P

  1. The Marius/Cosette modern day AU that's heavily based on my own experience of modern US political activism. Currently 100 words, estimated ~5,000 finished.
  2. The Enjolras/Grantaire modern day AU that's based on tlb daring me to write one in the ~true spirit~ of Victor Hugo. Currently 1075 words, estimated ~3500 finished.
  3. The next chapter of the Les Mis pirates AU, currently 352 words, estimated ~1000 finished. (finishing the chapter counts, this is meant to be A Serial That Never Ends.)
  4. The Sequel to The One Where Tony Stark and Princess Leia Hook Up, that's been in 'progress' since before the Avengers movie came out, surely space battles aren't *that* hard to write and that's all I have left, currently 5,651 words, estimated ~7500 words complete.
  5. The one where Captain America and the Winter Soldier play Frisbee on the National Mall and Maria Hill hates her job. Currently 1204 words, estimated 2000 finished.
  6. The one where Drifting makes you Not Have Sex and Newt is not happy about this at all. Currently 1982 words, estimated 3500 complete (first stand-alone-ish part of a plotted Five Times Newt And Hermann Attempt To Have Sex)
  7. The Eponine/Cosette modern day AU where they both work at an aquarium and are raising an orphaned Sula nebouxii by the name of Baron Pontmercy. Currenly 1075 words, estimated ~5000 words finished.
  8. The first part of the one where the Guardians of the Galaxy get married to each other because sure, whatever, why the hell not get married. Currently 6125 words, estimated 10000 words complete.

Counting the one I finished yesterday, that's 19674 words written, 21656 to go, 41300 words of finished fic for the month. Totally doable, right? With the one I finished yesterday I'm almost halfway there already and it's only the second day!!

April 13th, 2014 03:50 pm - I share
I saw Winter Soldier last week, as those of you on whose posts I showed up probably noticed! It was good and it was also the kind of story that is going to leave me thinking about what it was trying to do and what it did do for quite awhile, which is a good thing. I did not come out of it with Intense Bucky Feels, partly because when he has his mask on he just looks like Revenge-era Gerard Way and when he has it off I am just staring at his chin going "but why?" But that's okay, because I think the rest of the internet can cover for me on that one.

I did come out of it with intense very minor non-plot related spoilers )

So, of course, I came home from the movie at 12:30 AM and wrote a fic. (Fic is minorly spoilery but headers aren't.) Said fic has somehow become second place on the Pinboard Popular Fandom page in the last three days, which I do not understand because it's basically just an extended in-joke with coworkers who theoretically don't even know my fan name yet, *and* it's gen, but I guess I ought to link it here at some point, huh.

Modern Careers in the Information Sciences (and Other White Lies) (3086 words) by melannen
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Captain America (Movies)
Characters: James "Bucky" Barnes, Natasha Romanov, Sam Wilson (Marvel), Random agents, definitely original female characters clearly not based on real people, Steve Rogers
Additional Tags: Captain America: The Winter Soldier Spoilers, Missing Scene, POV Outsider, Libraries, Librarians, Fort Meade
Summary:

Any agent knows that the most important thing when planning an op is information. Luckily, there's a public library right across the street from Fort Meade.

ALSO! Miseres fest! Went live! I am still reading through all the good fic and art when I can tear myself away from Cap II stuff (and, you know, adulting, which sucks). I got a gift that is so amazing I still don't even really know what to do with it? I keep thinking about bits from it and then going "oh wait no, that's not actually canon." It's one of Pliny's AMAZING Roman poetry works, but don't let the fact that it's poetry scare you away - it's really good epic poetry, which means it sucks you in and draws you along just like really good prose, only better.

The Wine-Ship, or, In Which Fantine Is Treated With Fennel And Does Not Die (4177 words) by PlinytheYounger
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Les Misérables - All Media Types
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Fantine/OMC, Fantine & Cosette Fauchelevent, Fantine & Jeanne Valjean, Jean Valjean & Jeanne Valjean
Characters: Fantine, Jeanne Valjean, Jean Valjean, Mme. Thénardier, M. Thénardier, Cosette Fauchelevent
Additional Tags: Roman AU, Wine, Aurelian Wall, Alternate Universe - Ancient Rome, Ancient Rome
Summary:

Roman AU. Jeanne Valjean sees a child mistreated; Fantine goes looking for her child with her burial money; a merchant is down on his luck; Javert is serving the people and doing his duty; and Jean Valjean has to escape via the latrine.

I also wrote a thing for Miseres fest, and THEN IRENY DREW FANART, and the fanart is way better than the fic, so I'mma just link you to the fanart, okay (It links back to the fic if you really want to read it.)

October 30th, 2013 01:15 am - Miseres Exchange Fic
Okay, I re-read my exchange story and took out another dozen or so typos and bad phrasings, and I guess it's not entirely terrible. :P

For some reason, notifications to subscribers don't seem to have gone out for stories when the collection was revealed, so if you're subscribed to me, you probably didn't see this.

...nope, that's basically it. That's the fic. Old men and squirrels.

The story I got was by [personal profile] cinaed and as you would expect, given that, it was wonderful and amazing in all ways! She based it on one of the scenarios I outlined in that JVJ OTP meme I did here awhile back, by which I mean HUDDLING FOR WARMTH in a cottage in the country. You should all read it and tell Cinaed how wonderful it is.

So. Uh. I've been digging around in my old-wips files some more, and meanwhile I was trying to write Grantaire, and I remembered that this existed and was very close to finished? It is mostly very very old, and very, very, very silly - and I would have bet that I'd never post SGA fic again - but I accidentally finished it, so, um, why not.

September 19th, 2013 06:47 pm - Mammal Ethology and Small Group Dynamics
I posted a thing to AO3 last night! Don't get excited, it's not new fic, it's the Community werewolf AU I was working on last year. But all the '10 in 10' stuff got me looking at my older wips list, and I decided that the as-originally-planned first chapter would work as a finished fic if I cleaned it up a little. So here it is.
